Homeopathy for Winter

ALLERGIES :  A Temporary Solution or a Permanent Cure……

cough

In the recent past there has been an increase in the number of patients who come with itchy rashes on their body or with complaints of a lot of sneezing and blocked nose. The local doctor generally prescribes few medicines which potentially vanish the symptoms in a jiffy. As time passes the frequency of these attacks increase and so does the visit to doctors. In subsequent months or years the complaints of rash or sneezing or nasal congestion more or less tends to become permanent as a result of which the patient usually becomes habituated or dependent on the allopathic medications. Stopping the medication leads to relapse of these complaints. The doctors arrive at a conclusion of it being an allergy because of which he would need to live with this condition and continue taking medicines for the same.

Allergy has more or less become a common name in most of the household’s today. What is allergy, lets understand-

It is in simple terms the disease of your immune system. When a normal human being is exposed to something harmful from the surrounding, then the immune system reacts with these damaging invaders and helps to maintain a harmonious functioning of the body. This is a healthy response of the body. However an allergy starts when the immune system mistakes a normally harmless substance for a dangerous invader. This misjudgement on the part of immune system to identify the harmless substance as harmful and the consequent reaction of immunity is called allergy.  The manifestation of allergy in the body is seen mainly on the skin, the digestive system and the respiratory system. Most commonly occurrence of allergies is seen in children and women.

The most common triggers are-

  • Airborne allergens, such as pollen, animal dander, dust mites and mold
  • Certain foods- in particular peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, eggs and milk
  • Insect stings; such as bee stings or wasp stings
  • Medications- such as penicillin or penicillin-based antibiotics
  • Latex or other substances- when touched can lead to allergic reaction in some

The symptoms of allergy are as follows

  • Nose: itchy or running nose
  • Skin: small reddish rashes which itch
  • Digestive system: tingling in the mouth, swelling of lips, tongue, face and throat.
  • Chest: Cough tightness in chest, wheezing and shortness of breath.

Homeopathy has a huge potential to tackle this illness. It is arguably the only therapy with no negative side effects or after effects. It not only addresses the symptom, the disease, the cause thereof but the whole totality of the patient. It touches not only the body, the function of the body, the mind but also the aura of the spirit which animates the entire individuality.

Case of a 50-year-old lady coming with allergic complaints

shutterstock_728263417

This is a case of a 50-year-old lady coming with allergic complaints she had been suffering with for nearly 25 years. Every year in the month of March up to May she used to develop severe nasal and chest congestion along with difficulty in breathing. When she consulted me, her condition was progressively getting worse and the modern medicine doctor advised her to take steroids. Along with this at the emotional level she was going through a lot of interpersonal problems with her in-laws. She was forced to take charge of one branch of her husband’s business. This issue got tough for her and created a lot of stress. She felt incapable, under confident and incompetent. After studying her case thoroughly she was given a suitable homeopathic remedy that covered all her complaints overall. Since the disease was of a long standing duration she was explained the need to take the treatment for at least a year. She showed her reluctance in the beginning, however after 3-4 months of treatment she was surprised to see that her confidence in dealing with her business improved substantially. This change was highly appreciated by her as well as her relatives. After 1 year of treatment her allergies vanished, the need for anti-allergic medications was zero and the question of inhaler did not remain. She was asked to stop homeopathy too and report if necessary. It has been over 4 years that she is enjoying good health and harmony.

Homoeopathy has a large potential to treat many if not all diseases in this busy stressful world of ours.

-Continue to ignore your symptoms, and experience a slow increase in discomfort, which will correspond to a decrease in your overall health.

-Treat your symptoms with the latest drugs or painkillers and creating short term relief and long term damage to the rest of your body or

-Listen to your body and begin applying a holistic approach to wellness. Treat the whole being, not just the symptoms.

So choice is yours………

During the winter days  preceding Sankranti, families prepare delicacies made of til and gur like, gajak, chikki and til ka laddoo. Their longer shelf life makes it possible to store the snacks for a long period of time.

Til or sesame are an excellent source of boosting minerals and help maintaining good hair and skin. Also a rich source of protein they help maintain strong bones. At the same time, jaggery’s iron and vitamin C content has also been used as a traditional remedy for colds and coughs and flus.
